What Millcreek is built out of.

Millcreek only became a city in 2016, but the neighborhoods are old. East Millcreek and Canyon Rim were among the first parts of the valley settled, and most of what stands there now went up between the 1930s and the 1960s — 1950s bungalows and ranch homes on established streets, with Mount Olympus and Canyon Rim running larger up against the bench.

These are well-maintained houses with dated layouts. Small closed kitchens, a formal dining room nobody uses, a wall between them. The remodel that fixes it is almost always structural, because in a 1950s ranch the wall between the kitchen and the dining room is frequently carrying the roof. That's the call we get from this part of the valley more than any other.

Long tenure again, and the same consequence: houses that hold four decades of one household, being sorted through by adult children who live somewhere else and have a week to do it.

What that means for the work.

Kitchen and dining wall removal
The 1950s ranch layout's defining problem. Shored, opened, beamed, and hauled — one person, one visit.
Basement demo back to studs
A 1970s basement finish in a 1955 house: paneling, drop ceiling, framed-in bar. All of it comes out.
Estate and probate cleanouts
Forty-year households near Canyon Rim and East Millcreek, on a listing or a court timeline.
